TEXTAGATE. Or, how to breach Charitable Fundraising Laws and get caught

Anti-vaccine ideologue, Meryl Dorey, and her Australian Vaccination Network are not allowed to seek donations, or new members, since their Charitable Fundraising Authority was revoked following an investigation by the NSW Office of Liquor Gaming and Racing. Multiple breaches were uncovered during the investigation.

During the recent AVN tour of Western Australia, the Caravan of Carnage, Meryl Dorey was handing out flyers. The flyers include details of how one can “donate” to, and/or “become a member” of, the AVN. That these flyers were handed out is a demonstrable fact. We have one.

Today, Meryl Dorey exploded all over the AVN Facebook page, blaming Stop the AVN for her own actions. Dorey got caught. And it hurt. A lot.

The person who procured the flyer did not pick it up. The person states unequivocally that they were “handed the flyer”, with no word of warning to ignore the calls for donations.

I knew I had to do something. I had to help Meryl. I’m a helpful guy.

This is a black texta:

and:

This is an AVN flyer with all of the illegal calls for donations/new memberships crossed out with black texta:

This one is illegal. This one was handed out to members of the public, by the AVN:

Meryl Dorey did this. Stop the AVN did not do this. Meryl Dorey handed these out. Don’t do this, Mrs Dorey. You are in enough trouble as it is.

This is another section of the flyer. This is a Quack Miranda. This is one of the best Quack Mirandas I have ever laid eyes upon:

The AVN is not responsible for the results of any actions taken on the basis of information in this publication, nor for any error or omission and they expressly disclaim all and any liability to any person in respect of anything done or omitted to be done by any person in whole or partial reliance upon the whole or any part of the contents of this publication. If medical advice is required, the services of a competent professional should be sought.

It really says that.

I think there’s something in there for all of us.

About reasonable hank

I'm reasonable, mostly.
