Meryl Dorey’s struggle: is it the same as six million murdered Jewish people?

Today Meryl Dorey, a Jewish woman, compared new State legislation regarding childcare immunisation requirements to what happened to the Jewish people under Nazi Germany:

Comparisons can be drawn between the current situation in Australia and historical social conflicts such as the McCarthy Era in the US and Hitler’s vilification of the Jews during the 1930s and 1940s. At least with these issues, there was plenty of public debate going on.

Yes. The downtrodden anti-vaccinationists and non-vaccinators are just like the Jews under Nazi Germany.

I’m not sure how one offensive person can be even more offensive than usual.

I’m not going to say any more. I’ll let Rabbi Baruch Stone do the talking:

Update: May 31 2013

Rabbi Stone made the same comment on Dorey’s blog post. Not one to admit fault, Dorey argued with the Rabbi about her ugly comparison made above:

And, if things couldn’t possibly get more offensive, Dorey found a way, stating:

we are currently in the midst of another holocaust

Again, I cannot surpass Rabbi Stone’s final comment. I think he is very likely to be someone who may know what he is talking about when it comes to the subject of The Holocaust, and the arrogant, ignorant, offensive people who abuse the memory of those who died, and those who still suffer:

May G-d have mercy on your soul.

  1. doronski says:

As a Jewish doctor I find her comments doubly offensive.

Dorey denigrates the genocide of my ancestors by her putrid association of the good-willed actions of governments who wish to protect our children with those of a regime that had no regard for human life.

She is as paranoid as she is stupid.

  2. Harry b says:

You don’t need a license in Australia to be a complete lunatic.

  3. Ros says:

If she had half the brain she claims she does, she retract that and make an unreserved apology.

    I’m not holding my breath.

  4. In another post by an AVN supporter this week the suggestion was made that anti-vaccinators should take their children out of school and society and only associate and mate with other vaccination deniers, thus leading to the breeding of children who have a natural immunity and are therefore better humans with higher intelligence. I believe this would be called “eugenics”. I seem to remember talk of a European regime trying something similar last century. Oh, that’s right …

  5. Kepler says:

I am constantly amazed by how low this woman can go. Just when you think you have seen the lowest of her lowness, she stoops even lower. It’s positively baffling. After the AVN is crushed and she is out of business, she may want to consider a career as a professional Limbo champion. The question “how lo can you go” now has an answer: “Not as low as Meryl.”

  6. Tracey Asquith says:

I would say I am shocked and saddened, but that just doesn’t seem to cover my feelings at Meryl’s horrible comments. Bloody insane comes closer.Meryl….there IS no comparison.

  7. Sayonara says:

Dorey just keeps going lower. Her attempting to align herself and supporters as being similar to the Jews is particularly vile. She’s used this before. I’ve never seen her try to align the anti-vax plight with the White Australia Policy before. That’s…that’s… I have no words.

Does she not understand that under the White Australia Policy that our Indigenous people were classified as ‘flora and fauna’ right up until 1968? Nowhere has anyone remotely suggested that she and her repugnant supporters are plants and/or animals! Nobody has suggested that anti-vaxxers will be deported to some hell-hole and never be able to return to Australia. Nobody has suggested that the government will selectively allow people to reside here because they refuse to vaccinate their children. HOW DARE SHE!

To align herself and her supporters with the Holocaust and as victims of the old White Australia Policy, in the same bloody sentence, is beyond offensive! Is this her last ditch desperation whilst the death knell is sounding?

    Vile, vile, vile…

Dorey spoke at Inverell Forum in 2008 http://www.inverellforum.org/Forum%202008.htm

I really shouldn’t be surprised at her offensive comments (this time) given the illustrious company she joins as a past Inverell speaker. But still, nothing prepares you for it…

  9. Rabbi Baruch Stone says:

Excellent article, Mr. McLeod. The humor I am finding in this is the little picture of Super Grover (my most favorite super hero of all time) next to my name. Thank you for the compliments and I am very encouraged by your writing and stance.

    • Thank you so much for your comment, Rabbi Stone. You wrote most of this post, as I didn’t really have anything to add to your comments on this matter. This is not the first time anti-vaccinationists have usurped the horror of The Holocaust for their own dastardly means, and I’m certain it will not be the last. All we can do, as decent, caring people, is call it out for what it is: callous, and perverse.

Ask my kids who my favourite Sesame Street character is and they tell you I agree completely with your taste in super heroes.

      Kind regards,

Peter Tierney (friend and associate of Ken McLeod, in the battle against these people).

  10. Andy says:

“The government and the medical community are vilifying a class of loving, caring and intelligent parents […] based on absolutely no information or evidence whatsoever. The comparison is most obvious in the blatant incitement of hatred and vilification that is being promulgated by both the government and the media.”

“…but when any people are being forced against their will to place their children at risk…”

“I am not implying that they are going to go out and gas us or our children (though there are probably some out there who would love to do so…”

    “Vilifying, hatred, incitement”???

Who was it who described vaccination as rape and doctors as paedophiles? Whoever it was would certainly know a lot about vilification, hatred and incitement – but not in the way they think they do.

  11. Andy says:

    Oh, and this…

“I’m certainly not saying what we’re doing is God-like in any way, but the sort of things Jesus put up with… are happening to anyone who questions the status quo on vaccines.”[Meryl Dorey, radio interview with Howard Sattler – 2012]

So….. is she Jewish or Christian?

    Oh, and this too…

“A similar question to the one posed, is whether a Jewish day school has the right to refuse admission to children who are not vaccinated. That question was posed to Jewish scholars and rabbinical students… To summarize … all three groups, using Jewish scholarly research, found the school to absolutely have such a right and an obligation to a) the law of the land (state requirements), b) the principles of the mitzvah known as pikuach nefesh, saving lives, as many as possible.
