Anti-vaccination activists linked to Manly-Warringah Rugby League Club

Also see ongoing updates below

Earlier today, our friends at Diluted Thinking brought us the news that the professional anti-vaccination activists from Vaxxed and the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network had chosen their promised star faces for an upcoming antivax tour of Australia:

On 9 October 2017, Polly Tommey introduced the Australian Vaxxed team members  who will be touring Australia recording vaccine injury stories.

They are twin sisters, Stevie Nupier and Taylor Winterstein, and Deveraux David, the daughter of AVN president, Tasha David. These are the people in USA receiving training; the team in Australia will eventually be much larger.

Both Stevie and Taylor are known in the alt health movement through Taylor’s wellness business, Tay’s Way  (also known as Stevie & Tay).

The AVN shared the Vaxxed video:

The Tay’s Way Facebook page also shared the Vaxxed video:

On the Tay’s Way Facebook page, Taylor Winterstein notes her health qualifications:

About

– Proud wifey & mama
– Health coaching student
– One half of @stevie_and_tay
– PXP distributor
– Fearless truth seeker

On her blog, Winterstein expands:

By no means am I claiming to be an expert or that I am qualified in nutrition and fitness because I am not and this is an ongoing learning process for myself as well…

TW x

Winterstein appears to trade on the occupation of her husband, Manly-Warringah professional rugby league player Frank Winterstein. The Tay’s Way Facebook page is filled with photographs of her husband wearing his official Manly-Warringah paraphernalia – such as jerseys and shirts – with these photographs having been taken at Brookvale Oval, in front of official sponsors’ boards, and even in what appears to be the Manly-Warringah dressing rooms. Winterstein also regularly uses the official Many-Warringah hashtag – #WeAreManly – on her page.

I will include a larger collection at the end of this post, but, Winterstein claims that she is conducting her various activities – including anti-vaccination activism – with the “unconditional” blessing of her husband:

Before we look at the collection of anti-vaccination posts on Winterstein’s page, it should  be noted that, so prolific are these posts, with the exception of one screenshot, all of these posts are sourced only from July-October 2017. There are just too many to include.

It should go without saying that the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network, and its leader Meryl Dorey, have a current NSW Health Care Complaints Commission public warning against them.

It should also go without saying that Polly Tommey – one of the producers and stars of Vaxxed – has been banned from reentering Australia for at least three years, due to her recent antivax tour of Australia.

Any claims that the movie, Vaxxed, is “not  anti-vaccine” are laughable. The stars and producers best explain their barking anti-vaccinationism in their own words, and thanks to Tommey and the AVN, there’s plenty of video evidence.

This official Vaxxed broadcast was only three weeks ago: “Vaxxed” broadcasts claims that vaccines cause gay, lesbian and transgender people. This one was only one month ago: “Vaxxed” broadcasts violent threats against California senator and others. Winterstein, Stevie Nupier, and Deveraux David appeared in yesterday’s Vaxxed video, from the Vaxxed bus, where only one month ago an antivaxer made credible death threats against a California senator. Let that sink in.

And, let’s not forget that the Australian anti-vaccination movement thrives on the abuse and vilification of bereaved parents, and thrives on the abuse and vilification of professional public health personnel, including the incitement of death threats against critics.

In all photos that include children, I have redacted the child’s face for legal as well as ethical reasons.

The anti-vaccination activism of Taylor Winterstein

From today, October 10 2017:

September 27 2017, with a tower of research:

September 9 2017, with anti-vaccination chiropractor, Jennifer Barham-Floreani:

September 7 2017, promoting Dorey and the AVN:

September 6 2017, illegally posting the name and image of a disabled child who was removed from his parents due to the fact that he was being slowly starved to death. The child, and indeed the whole case, is under a court-ordered suppression order. He is not to be named, nor his image published anywhere. The child is not “vaccine injured”:

May 20 2017, illegally allowing to remain published the name of the same child – who was removed from his parents because he was being slowly starved to death – in a photograph featuring Frank Winterstein in his Manly-Warringah jersey, at a Manly-Warringah rugby league match, holding on to that sign:

August 15 2017, a tirade of antivax falsehoods:

August 10 2017, promoting chiropractic for babies in lieu of consultation with a real  doctor:

August 5 2017, promoting Vaxxed producer Del Bigtree’s derogatory nickname for public health advocates:

August 2 2017, promoting conspiracy theorist Bigtree:

July 31 2017, promoting antivax conspiracy theorist Suzanne Humphries, from Humphries’ recent Vaxxed tour of Australia, complaining about the term “conspiracy theorist”:

July 30 2017, posing with the stars of Vaxxed – in Australia – Polly Tommey, Brian Hooker, and Suzanne Humphries:

July 30 2017, promoting Vaxxed, and claiming that Vaxxed is “not an anti-vax film”:

July 27 2017, posting a bizarre list of anti-vaccination lies:

July 24 2017, posting an offensive meme created by Ian Stanley, of No Fluoride Australia/No Vaccines Australia, to attack the Hughes family of Light for Riley. The meme falsely and callously equates unsubstantiated anti-vaccination claims of deaths from vaccines to real, clinically-confirmed deaths of babies and children from vaccine preventable diseases:

July 23 2017, promoting Vaxxed on their arrival in Australia:

July 17 2017, receiving praise from Meryl Dorey and the AVN, for sharing an AVN video featuring AVN president Tasha David:

Final note

Yesterday morning, October 9 2017, I contacted the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Club, on Twitter, to ask if Frank Winterstein was still playing for the club. I did not know whether or not Frank Winterstein was still contracted. My question was genuine, as I had not yet looked at Taylor Winterstein’s Facebook page:

This morning, when I checked if there was any reply from the club, I noticed that I had been blocked by the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Club:

Today, at 1555 hours, the club posted this Tweet:

Update October 12 2017

Thanks to a special friend who exposed themselves to Winterstein’s whole Facebook page, there are now a few screenshots that must be added for their sheer anti-vaccination audacity.

These screenshots further put to rest Winterstein’s claim that she does not dissuade others from immunising their children, as well as the oft-repeated, calculated, PR-driven, sleight-of-hand that the anti-vaccination activist is ‘not anti-vaccine, but, an ex-vaxer.’

January 31 2017, Winterstein boasts that her mother, Michelle Moors, is an early childhood educator who plans on opening an exclusively anti-vaccination childcare service:

Thankfully my Mum is an early childhood educator who has her own plans one day open up her own family day care for only unvaccinated children.

March 17 2017, Winterstein includes her husband in her anti-vaccination rant that ticks off many antivax bingo cards:

April 4 2017, Winterstein posts a photo that includes her husband Frank Winterstein participating in her anti-vaccination activism at NSW MP Dr Mike Freelander’s electorate office. Also pictured are her parents:

July 28 2017, under this meme containing a list of anti-vaccination lies, Winterstein states:

I personally believe every vaccinated child is vaccine-injured to some extent, myself included.

September 2 2017, Winterstein makes a crackpot diagnosis and provides a commenter with a crackpot prescription based on this diagnosis:

Hey Hun, I am sorry to hear and honestly it is soooo frustrating the amount of times I have heard Mums say that their GP’s tell them its “normal” for babies to be sick all year round… NO it is NOT normal. Sick children shouldn’t be the norm and it doesn’t have to be that way. I find this happens all too often amongst vaccinated children and it breaks my heart. I know you have emailed me already about PXP but your babies seriously need their mitochondria addressed. You are doing all of the right things however vaccines damage children’s mitochondria and it is one of the main reasons why they’re constantly sick. Their bodies do not have enough mitochondrial energy and strength to heal themselves by themselves because of the insane vaccine schedule we have in AUS where children are constantly being injected within their first 2 years of life. Also grab yourself some health force vit C, some GSE off iherb, some collidal silver aswell. I am happy to help you hun, just let me know xxx

September 2 2017, Winterstein chides a mother who has immunised her child, listing another collection of non sequitur, anti-vaccination factoids:

One could argue that you are actually the one taking the risk by vaccinating as vaccines do not come without risks. Do you understand what vaccine shedding is and that it is well written in medical literature that the WC vaccine for example, actually does not prevent transmission or colonization of the bacteria. Fully vaccinated children can actually be asymptomaic (silent) carriers of the disease. The govt refuses to do a vax vs unvax study so how can you be so sure that it is the unvaccinated who are more prone to spreading diseases when they have no data or science to back up their own claims? Vaccination does not automatically equal immunization. You can be vaccinated and still acquire no immunity. So you may feel much better knowing your child is vaccinated but please do not for one second think you’re doing it for the greater good as it states even on vaccine package inserts that if you’ve recently been vaccinated to stay away from the immunocompromised as live vaccines can and do shed the disease. Personally, I feel much better knowing my son is protected and protecting others through the lifestyle we live and that he has not been injected with neurotoxins, carcinogens, animal DNA, polysorbate 80, aluminum and aborted fetal cells.

September 13 2017, all in the same sub-thread, Winterstein claims that vaccination policy is about:

money and population control.

Winterstein then states that she does not attempt to dissuade parents from immunising their children:

I don’t tell parents what they should or shouldn’t do either and 100% it is a very personal choice.

Winterstein then states the following:

…in my opinion every vaccine does damage. We actually have no idea what the real risks are…

I don’t buy into the social engineering and fear mongering.

And for the clincher, on October 9 2017, thanks once again to Polly Tommey and her dedication to the task of providing video evidence regarding other people whom she habitually hangs out to dry:

Tommey: Oh I bet the Australian government are freakin’ out right now. Health ministers…

Winterstein: Watch out…

Tommey: …are shaking and quaking in your boots…

Winterstein: …watch out…

Tommey: …Well you should do because you know what it’s murder…

Winterstein: …yeah…

Tommey: …what’s happening over in Australia with these kids…

Winterstein: …yeah…

Update October 13 2017

Responding to questions from journalist  Jane Hansen, Winterstein went into  full conspiracy mode alleging corruption from the media and accusing this blog and others of being “professionally paid trolls”:

Before making the decision to travel to America, our family had deep discussions about what this truly means and what could happen to us in the future. We thought about all the ways my family would come under attack, what certain people will say and try and do.

Having the courage to stand up, be outspoken, stay strong and fight for vaccine-injured families does not come without serious vilification from professionally paid trolls and mainstream media.

Without a doubt, heat is coming our way. But we decided long ago that nothing is going to stop us from doing what is right.

For those who know my family know exactly the kind of people we are.

For those who have been supporting my page over the years you will know that I unapologetically speak my truth, that I am transparent, honest and always come from a place of love.

This week Jane Hansen from The Sunday Telegrah contacted me to answer questions in relation to an article that will be published in print media on Sunday.

The tone of the questions and her emails leaves me with no doubt that this journalist will attempt to drag myself and my family through the mud, twist my words and manipulate the “story” so as to drive fear into the masses and keep us believing that anyone who questions vaccines is a threat to society.

So I will post my full answers to the journalist’s questions before they get taken out of context on what will undoubtedly be a heavily pro-vax article published this Sunday.

It is well known that the pharmaceutical industry spends millions on advertising through mainstream media. As evident in recent times, it does not suit their agenda to present stories that showcase vaccine injury or questions around vaccine safety and efficacy, so it is up to others to report the truth about vaccines or stories of vaccine-injured children.

The opportunity to travel around America, film vaccine-injury stories, hug the heartbroken parents and listen to their experiences, has only fuelled the raging fire inside me even more.

I always say to BE BRAVE and that is what I will continue to do. I will keep turning up the volume on this issue and I am not going anywhere.

They may try to bury or bully me but I am not afraid. I will not give in and I will not back down.

I am and always have been for the people and I will never stop fighting for my family.

My light is shining bright to expose corruption, deceit, lies and injustice and the light of the TRUTH WILL ALWAYS WIN.✌🏽

Update October 14 2017

AVN president Tasha David makes an adorable attempt at doing hasthtags, sharing Winterstein’s defamatory post to rabid anti-vaccination group, Vaccine Free Australia:

Update October 15 2017

Winterstein returned to Australia to again attack journalist Jane Hansen, the Sunday Telegraph, and “trolls”, whilst boasting that she and her flock “vibrate high” as opposed to  low vibrating trolls and media:

Back on Aussie soil this morning and it feels so good to be home!

It also feels good not to see my family being exploited in the media today😁👍🏽

The journalist from The Sunday Telegraph has pulled the pin on her “story” she was writing about my family. It is no where to be seen.

The emails I received from this journalist were so erratic, grammatically incorrect, biased and unprofessional to the point where she even swore, gives me the impression that she is not a happy camper.

So it’s very likely that she backed down from publishing the story today, just so that she can brew up something even more sensationalized. The witch hunt is on, I know the story on my family is coming, it’s just a matter time.

But I also know that a big part of the reason why this story wasn’t released today is because of all of you😘!

The overwhelming response, comments and messages of support for my family has seriously blown me away. I honestly can’t thank you all enough🙏🏽!

This situation is a perfect example of what happens when the people have each other’s backs! The media won’t run a story they know will be unpopular and wow did you all make it known that you weren’t buying into the BS👏🏽.

So I need to say this again…

THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE IS STRONGER THAN THE PEOPLE IN POWER✊🏽.

We don’t need to be afraid of mainstream media, greedy corporations or the people in power. We can actually stand up to them.

The reason why negativity from trolls and mainstream media doesn’t get to my family is because we don’t vibrate on the same frequency as them. We vibe high and always come from love. We don’t live in fear.

Mainstream media and trolls vibrate very low and always come from fear. And they program the masses to always be driven by fear. Their aim is to keep us all divided.

The reason why they do this is because they know that if the people awaken and understand how strong we are when we stand united together, we will be powerful beyond measure and we will take back all control.

Unfortunately for them, it’s already starting to happen and the paradigm shift is already here.

Dr Kevin Coleman – the antivaxers’ champion 3 – AHPRA registration suspended

On November 28 2015, I first wrote about NSW general practitioner Kevin Coleman: Dr Kevin Coleman – the antivaxers’ champion.

On March 20 2017, I wrote about Coleman again, due to a failed complaint about Coleman’s anti-vaccination activism, including more evidence of his continued public anti-vaccination activism: Dr Kevin Coleman – the antivaxers’ champion 2.

I was planning for a third instalment of the series, focusing on further evidence of Coleman’s continuing anti-vaccination activism, but, today we have found out that Coleman’s medical registration has been suspended. So, post number four will have to wait until a later date.

Coleman’s wife, Flavia Coleman, told the Unvaccinated Australia Facebook group about the suspension:

And Coleman’s AHPRA registration page confirms the suspension:

Registration status: Suspended

When even the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia throws you shade…

This is Australian anti-vaccination chiropractor Simon Floreani posing with his wife, anti-vaccination chiropractor Jennifer Barham-Floreani, posing with anti-vaccination god-figure Andrew Wakefield. The Floreani’s are/were professional members of the disgraced anti-vaccination pressure group, the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network (the AVN literally has a public health warning against its name). Floreani was also the president of the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia, until 2011. He was awarded with an Outstanding Service Award by the CAA Victoria, in 2013:

Floreani is now mostly known in Australia for his unrepentant anti-vaccination activism which has included previous sanction by the Chiropractic Board of Australia.

Floreani is also known for hosting a secret showing of the Andrew Wakefield anti-vaccination movie, Vaxxed, in his chiropractic business, Vitality Chiropractic, in Melbourne. This was followed by a Q&A session in which AVN committee members and other people pretended to be experts. Pictured below (L-R) in Floreani’s business is AVN president Tasha David, immediate past public officer Brett Smith, and Victorian antivax activist Wendy Lydall (seen here laughing about children dying from chicken pox):

Floreani is also known for sneaking into a hospital to treat a spinal patient whilst pretending to be that patient’s snowboarding coach. Several times.

Floreani is also known for referring one of his customers to a fake IVF specialist who subsequently sexually assaulted that customer.

Floreani is most recently known for having his AHPRA registration suspended:

Registration status: Suspended

On October 1 2017, Jane Hansen wrote in the Sunday Telegraph, page 51:

HIGH profile chiropractor and anti-vaccine proponent Simon Floreani has had his licence suspended by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

AHPRA said they could not comment publicly on the suspension.

Just yesterday, Floreani posted this on his Facebook profile, letting his friends know about his tremendous humility and his connection to source. They are healers. They are possibly even Jesus:

I’m usually a fiercely independent leader connected to source as my main power to lean on.

It’s now that I need YOUR help. If you could rest back, open your shoulders and heart and help find a deep level of love to send to our government regulators and leaders of the profession in Oz. Help me create a sonic boom of love today.

Help me channel the tension and hate in our heads and jaw into heart felt warmth and forgiveness. I need YOUR help to create an impenetrable force of love.

Healers come from a unique position of humility. We are servants who wash the feet of those who come under our care.

OUR HUMILITY IS OUR STRENGTH

Please join me in building yours and mine appetite for tolerance and humility so we can actually heal the children and families out there without impedance, politics and perversion.

If you know anything about me, my wife, my family and our businesses we exist to help change the health of the world for the better.

We know about the AHPRA suspension, but, to whom does he refer with this sentence: “government regulators and leaders of the profession in Oz”?

Well, Floreani had nominated himself, again, to run for the presidency and national board of the CAA. He really did. And this email was sent out to CAA members a few days ago, by CAA CEO Matthew Fisher:

Dr Simon Floreani is a nominee for the positions of president-elect, Victorian regional director and director in the upcoming CAA National (Association) election. Ballot papers for the election have already been mailed to members as part of our AGM mailout, and Dr Floreani’s name appears on the ballot papers. Yesterday, the Association was made aware that Dr Floreani’s registration to practice has been suspended by AHPRA. We have confirmed this information with a search of the AHPRA database.

The Association has made several attempts to contact Dr Floreani for his comment. We are informed that Dr Floreani is on leave and travelling outside of Australia. Regrettably we have not received any response. (Members should be aware that all candidates were asked to confirm their eligibility for election prior to the mail out of ballot papers.)

In these circumstances the Association believes that it is prudent to notify members of Dr Floreani’s circumstance and the possible consequences to his eligibility to hold a Board seat arising from clause 8.6 (a) of the Constitution which states:

8.6(a)  Subject to Rule 8.6(b) any member of the National Association other than Honorary who resides in Australia and who has maintained continuous membership in good standing of the National Association for at least three consecutive years, not including membership as a Student Member or Foreign Associate Member, immediately prior to the date of their nomination is eligible for election to the Board of Directors.

Based upon external advice and review of the circumstances, on the balance of probabilities it is the Association’s view that Dr Floreani is most likely ineligible for election to the Board of Directors. We will contact you as soon as possible if there is a material change in the Association’s view on this matter.

The Association suggests that members should consider these circumstances when they cast their vote.

Why can’t the CAA just acknowledge his brilliance, and his humility?

Corrosive black salves still disfiguring Australians, for profit

WARNING

This post contains a collection of disturbing images

Many people self-diagnose lumps and other skin imperfections. Sometimes they have real,  clinically diagnosed cancers and they then reject evidence-based treatment. This is a ready market into which vultures descend and profit. The internet has made this even easier than before. There are Facebook pages and groups set up for all manner of crackpot, dangerous cures. One of these is the escharotic market. They make it easier for people to burn away their flesh in the privacy of their own homes, posting the results on the internet.

From Dr Harriet Hall, in Science-Based Medicine:

Bloodroot is one of the main ingredients in black salve, a dangerous topical quack treatment for cancer. In the form of Cansema, black salve containing zinc chloride, bloodroot and other ingredients has been banned by the FDA for use as a cancer cure. But it is still readily available online.

Steven Barrett says “The idea that bloodroot kills only cancer cells and spares normal ones is preposterous.” There is good evidence that bloodroot does damage normal cells. A woman who used it for skin blemishes developed a large eschar on her neck and was left with a scar. Black salve products containing bloodroot are known to cause necrosis of normal tissue along with scarring, granulomatous inflammation, implanted foreign material, reactive stromal atypia, suppuration, and residual cancer. A 2012 review of bloodroot pointed out that it can cause significant tissue destruction, scars, and keloid formation.

Quackwatch warns against using escharotics, and shows a picture of a woman whose naturopath treated her with a black herbal salve for a bump on her nose. It ate away a large part of her face and her nose sloughed off. It took 3 years and 17 plastic surgeries to reconstruct her face. The picture is not pretty; click on the link only if you don’t mind being grossed out.

Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration also warns consumers about black salve:

What are black salve, red salve and cansema?

Black salve, red salve and cansema are products containing an active ingredient called sanguinarine, which comes from Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis). Sometimes zinc chloride is also present.

These products have been sold in Australia as an alternative treatment for cancer, including skin cancer.

The TGA is advising consumers against purchasing or using black salve, red salve or cansema products.

Can these products treat cancer?

The TGA is not aware of any credible, scientific evidence that black salve, red salve or cansema can cure or treat cancer. In addition there is no evidence that these products can be used to diagnose cancers. In fact, the evidence shows that they will cause skin irritation regardless of whether any malignancy is present.

While some Internet sites contain testimonials supporting the use of these products, the TGA does not consider this to be adequate evidence to support their efficacy.

What do these products do?

Black and red salves and cansema are corrosive salves. They essentially burn off layers of the skin and surrounding normal tissue. They can destroy large parts of the skin and underlying tissue, and leave significant scarring.

The TGA has taken action against manufacturers and suppliers of black salve:

Conviction for criminal charges for dealing with unapproved therapeutic goods

On 12 July 2017 the Devonport (Petty) Court sentenced a man and woman in relation to 2 criminal charges each surrounding the manufacture and supply of unapproved therapeutic goods under section 19B(4) of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989. The product, known as Black Salve, is not approved for marketing in Australia and has been the subject of TGA alerts (See Black and red salves in treating cancer and Black salve, red salve and cansema). The man and woman were convicted under the provisions of section 20(1) of the Crimes Act 1914and fined $750 each. The court ordered that the goods seized as evidential material be forfeited to the Commonwealth under section 54 of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.

And:

Conviction for criminal charges surrounding the manufacture, export and supply of unapproved therapeutic goods

On 13 February 2015 the Southport Magistrates Court sentenced a man in relation to 24 criminal charges surrounding the manufacture, export and supply of unapproved therapeutic goods under section 19B(4) of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989. The product, known as Black Salve, is not approved for marketing in Australia and has been the subject of TGA alerts (See Black and red salves in treating cancer and Black salve, red salve and cansema). The man was convicted under the provisions of section 20(1) of the Crimes Act 1914 and released on security of $5,000 and by recognizance that he be of good behaviour for two years. The court ordered the man not to be in possession of restricted chemicals, not to manufacture, promote, advertise or supply Black Salve and that the goods seized as evidential material be forfeited to the Commonwealth under section 54 of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.

There is extremely good reason for regulators to be so concerned about the use of salves.  This is what can happen:

Of course, whenever there is profit-driven hideousness to be had, Meryl Dorey and her antivax Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network are never far away. One of the first posts in this blog, in 2011, contained the AVN’s promotion of a black salve DVD in its online shop. Later, in 2013, Dorey and online conspiracy radio host, Leon Pittard, were sanctioned by the TGA for promoting the use of black salve. Dorey simply ignored the TGA’s orders that she post retractions. She then went on to post this on Facebook, in 2013:

Dorey isn’t alone. Professional Queensland anti-vaccination entrepreneur Stephanie Messenger has also promoted the 2013 petition, several times, in 2015:

Anti-vaccine chiropractor Anthony Golle still sold the banned DVD in his own shop, in 2015:

The original premise for this post was a Facebook post from friend of Messenger, US crackpot Sherri Tenpenny, who caused an uproar in 2015 when she planned to tour Australia. We certainly dodged a bullet, that time.

Just three days ago, Tenpenny posted an article from her Vaxxter site, advocating the use of black salve in the treatment of cervical dysplasia. You read that correctly: they are promoting the use of an indiscriminate, corrosive salve directly onto the cervix:

This is the Facebook post to which Tenpenny refers in her post:

The Facebook groups and pages that promote the use of black salve and associated products are set up by business-people who have a direct interest in the promotion and sale of these products. They own the businesses that profit from their use.

I’ve only included collections from three of these Facebook fora. It should be more than enough for alarmed regulators to jump up and take notice. Down the page, I will include a disturbing collection of evidence of pain and disfigurement from each group. Before that I will include a collection of evidence of the promotion of suppliers and manufacturers of black salve. Firstly, I’ll introduce the three fora.

First, BLACK SALVE RESEARCH GROUP is a closed group with over 4,700 members. The group is administered by Australians Belinda Gae Harris, Jane Beeby, and Anna Finch-Peacock. It is an Australian group. The group  is owned by Harris, who is the owner of one of the suppliers and manufacturers of black salve, TICKETY-BOO HERBAL:

Jane Beeby is, of course, the veteran AVN member and former AVN committee member we have, unfortunately, met several times before.

This is Harris’ pinned post in the BSRG group:

Second, The Bloodroot Discussion Group is a closed group with over 16,900 members. The group is administered by Hugh Varange (real name Uwe Wichmann) and Australian Ruth Driver. Wichmann is listed as a partner of another black salve supplier, Zenith Herbal. Both Wichmann and Driver claim to reside in Mexico, but, Driver has admitted to residing in Australia again. Wichmann also registered the business name “Zenith Herbal” in Queensland on August 25 2017:

It gets better, as is often the case. Wichmann and Driver were arrested in, convicted in and deported from Thailand in 2015:

Third, the Black Salve page is a public page with over 17,500 fans. The page is owned by Panacea-BOCAF, a guarded organisation with several names attached to it:

One of the earlier names involved in the Black Salve Facebook page is dangerous Queensland antivaxer, Nirvana Anderson. These posts are from 2013:

Please see this article from Diluted Thinking for a list of known black salve distributors in Australia: Black Salve – Australian Distributors.

As you can see from the Nirvana Anderson comment, above, advocates of the corrosive imbue it with some sort of magical sentience: an ability to seek out and destroy only cancer cells, whilst cleverly ignoring other pieces of flesh and tissue. This is, of course, delusional.

Another pertinent point to make – which will become unsettlingly apparent to the reader – is the cheer-leading and religious devotion from true believers, happily egging on their holey comrades in their quest to make excruciating Swiss cheese of themselves.

In the following collections of evidence I have decided that I will not redact names. The two closed groups have thousands of members and one only needs to request membership to be granted acceptance. The page is, of course, public. If regulators want evidence of this horrific practise, then, I figure the evidence needs to be there for them to chase up.

Names have not been left visible for the purpose of making fun of the individuals in any way. People in terrible situations can make terrible decisions. I know I have. And you will see how distressingly unfunny these decisions can be.

Having said that, the owners, leaders and administrators of these groups and pages deserve nothing less than prison terms.

Evidence of suppliers and manufacturers

BLACK SALVE RESEARCH GROUP

July 5 2017, Belinda Gae Harris linked to her business YouTube video, of which I have downloaded a copy for keeps, promoting her products and showing how to make black salve:

August 29 2017, Harris listed the main suppliers of black salve:

August 23 2017:

“Vaxxed” broadcasts claims that vaccines cause gay, lesbian and transgender people

One crucial thing the narcissistic, video-addicted, anti-vaccination leaders of Vaxxed have provided is evidence.

Only eighteen days ago I posted this: “Vaxxed” broadcasts violent threats against California senator and others. It contains damning video evidence of credible threats of violence, broadcast by the official Vaxxed Facebook page.

Only two months ago I posted this: How “Vaxxed” is anti-vaccine, in their own words. It contains thirty-four video snippets of damning evidence provided by Vaxxed and the disgraced Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network. The collection is still live. More will be added.

The video evidence provided by Vaxxed and the AVN helped set another Australian precedent for the precedent-setting, foot-bulleting AVN: Polly Tommey – and likely-but-not-confirmed Suzanne Humphries – has been banned from entering Australia for three years. This, of course, will certainly flow onto other ant-vaccination liars who plan on entering Australia in the future. This is assured. In fact, it has already happened, with Age of Autism blogger Kent Heckenlively concocting a stunt which resulted in his banning.

On September 18 2017, just two days ago, Polly Tommey and the Vaxxed activists showed up in Houston, Texas, to protest an immunisation conference [edit: this conference now appears to have been a sham conference run by predatory publisher, OMICS. Oh dear]. Tommey broadcast a live video from outside the event, this video being about thirty minutes long.

AVN president Tasha David was caught on camera, with this estimated to be her fourth trip to the US, this year:

This latest David trip – which we suspect has also been taken on the dime of the marks of the AVN – is especially noteworthy when contrasted with this Meryl Dorey post on the AVN Facebook page, from yesterday, begging for donations for allegedly financially-strapped antivaxers:

But, AVNers are used to paying for things which were not stated when they donated their money. One wonders when they’ll see through the AVN.

One individual interviewed by Tommey, for the bulk of the Facebook Live video, is an Alabaman anti-vaccination activist named Sherrie Saunders (AKA Elaine Sherrie Saunders).

We have met Saunders before due to a previous video broadcast by the Vaxxed activists, in which Saunders made a series of dubious claims and outright falsehoods about her time as an army medic. Saunders falsehoods were brutally taken apart by Elyce Powers, here: Vaxxed: Tall Tales From The Road, Army Edition.

Saunders recently gained further notoriety when she made overtures to the Ku Klux Klan to join her in her anti-vaccination crusade:

Saunders’ Facebook profiles are filed with other hateful content and conspiracy theories, such as Morgellons and chemtrails. There is way too much to include, but, a few posts will give you a general idea.

There is anti-Semitism. The linked post includes this offensive text:

These Demons have been secretly worshipped by Jewish Kabbalaists for centuries. For the first time, we read the lists of Jewish Royal Families of Europe and their relationship to magicians and serial killers who abduct and murder children for their blood in order to ‘please’ these demons… British author, CHRIS EVERARD, has uncovered a giant network of Demon-worshippers called the ZEVITES…

These demons are described throughout history as the ‘Anunaki’, the ‘Fallen Ones’, the ‘Watchers’ and are given royal rank in various ancient books of Black Magic. British author, CHRIS EVERARD has been investigating an international network of Secret Societies who were formed by a man who was crowned ‘King of the Jews’ in the year 1666 – and he promoted the idea of killing, child rape, incest and prostitution – he became the MESSIAH OF EVIL, and his followers venerated these demons…

Message from the Author: Every page of this new digital book is fully illustrated, there is also a Further Reading and historical SOURCES list. No matter how many books you own about ‘Conspiracy Theories’, ANUNAKI DEMONS & the EVIL MESSIAH uncovers jaw-dropping evidence that many governments, the Vatican and many governments are controlled by a tiny elite of ‘Lords’ and politicians who worship these demons.

This anti-Semitic, FEMA, microchip, antivax staple meme:

This racist post:

And this bizarre conspiracy that the Titanic didn’t sink:

But, the Tommey interview takes the cake.

I’ve made a short video compilation so you don’t have to sit through the whole thirty minutes. Again, no context is lost by editing down this video into snippets. She really says this stuff. And Tommey inflames Saunders’ homophobic comments by adding to them.

Saunders is introduced by Tommey stating, “I love you…we love you.” Saunders states that obesity is caused by vaccines. Saunders states the primacy of chiropractors over paediatricians in paediatric care, with Tommey stating that chiros have more training than doctors. Saunders states that doctors as the minions of demons and Luciferians. Saunders states that an increase gay, lesbian and transgender people is caused by vaccines. Tommey states that, “if you’ve had a vaccine, you are not who you were meant to be.” Tommey also states that children are more likely to die if they are vaccinated:

This is Vaxxed. This is the AVN. This is their reality.

AVN now trying to access private information about nursing home deaths

Stop the Australian (Anti)Vaccination Network was basically founded because of the callous antivax opportunism of Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network founder and current committee member, Meryl Dorey.

Back in March 2009, Dorey contacted the then-head of North Coast Area Health Service’s public health unit, Paul Corben, contending that baby Dana McCaffery did not die from whooping cough – she did – and sought access to confidential medical information surrounding Dana’s death. From Toni McCaffery (Dana’s mum):

Re: Dana’s medical records.

We stated that Mrs Dorey rang Mr Paul Corben the morning of 12 March 2009 seeking information on Dana – this is her health record. She rang him after seeing the Northern Star article on the morning of 12 March 2009. Mr Paul Corben confirmed in an email to us, which we initiated:

“As discussed on 8 May, when Ms Dorey called me on 12 March seeking details of your daughter’s illness and death, I advised her that while there was laboratory confirmation of Dana’s pertussis diagnosis, I would not be providing to her any details in addition to those provided in the media release as this would be, as she was aware, in contravention of privacy legislation and NSW Health policies. Ms Dorey contended that I had mislead [sic] the public in attributing your daughter’s death to pertussis and in so doing had put all associated information into the public domain. I advised Ms Dorey that she should put any further questions in writing to the Area Health Service’s Chief Executive to be considered under a Freedom of Information request. No request has been forthcoming. I will advise you if I receive such a request.”

Dorey even stated her hideous desires to her official AVN Yahoo! email list, in May 2009. From Toni McCaffery, again:

Mrs Dorey, in a discussion on your Yahoo forum in May 2009 you stated the following false information:

“I don’t know how or why, but she developed septicaemia – blood poisoning. That is what may have caused the swelling though it’s always possible that steroids were used – that is a common ‘treatment’ for Pertussis and it can cause massive swelling. I would love to get a look at this poor little one’s medical records. But that will never happen.

Recently, there have been confirmed reports of clusters of deaths among nursing home residents. This has been a brutal influenza season. And it’s  not over, yet. Just today it has been reported that an eight-year-old girl has died. A fortnight ago, a thirty-year-old father died.

Not enough people are immunised against influenza. Not enough nursing home staff are immunised against influenza. The influenza vaccine is not one of our best vaccines, but it is better than nothing:

In Australian studies, we generally estimate the risk of influenza is reduced by about 40-50% in people who receive the vaccine.

While this might seem low, reducing the risk of infection by half is worth the effort.

The influenza vaccine could, literally, be the difference between life and death. If these residents were your family members, you would want everyone around them doing everything they could to prevent these deaths.

Today, Dorey is at it again. This time she is seeking out confidential information regarding rumoured clusters of deaths among nursing home residents in Southeast Queensland. That is, Dorey is seeking out information from private, unsubstantiated sources regarding deaths of elderly residents, without having the decency of asking those residents’ families, nor seeking substantiation from a public health unit regarding these causes of death. And she is doing it for exactly the same reasons as she did with Dana McCaffery in 2009: to lie about immunisation.

In this case, Dorey will lie about immunisation by pointing to cases where the immunisation has not been sufficient in protecting some members of an already extremely vulnerable cohort.

Dorey will ignore the majority of immunised residents who did not get infected with influenza – despite their close proximity to other confirmed cases – or those who caught influenza and were saved from death by having partial immunity. This majority will be inconvenient for her.

Dorey will cite conspiracy theories about diagnoses being deliberately muddied. This is what she does. This is what all antivaxers do.

Dorey wants these families’ privacy breached, again, just like she did in 2009. She wants people to break the law.

Meryl Dorey is a parasite. Meryl Dorey should mind her own business. Meryl Dorey should let public health units and grieving families get on with dealing with the fallout from these tragedies, without interference from unqualified, self-entitled sociopaths.

Here is Dorey’s email sent to her Yahoo! group a couple of hours ago (my bold):

From: Meryl Dorey avnivm@gmail.com [AVN] <AVN@yahoogroups.com>
Date: 18 September 2017 at 12:11
Subject: [AVN] Wanted: Information on deaths from influenza in Australian Nursing Homes
To: AVN Group <avn@yahoogroups.com>

Hi,

I just received a call from someone in Southeast QLD who has informed me that 9 elderly people have died at a particular nursing home in their area – all within a very short time of each other. The deaths were listed as being from upper respiratory infections but it is possible that this is just a way of deflecting attention from flu deaths.

As you are probably aware, there were two recent clusters of deaths in fully-vaccinated residents of nursing homes in both Victora and Tasmania. I don’t believe these are isolated incidents.

What I would like to ask is if anyone has information on other clusters of deaths, to please contact me anonymously with as much information as you can find on any similar instances. You can use the contact form on the AVN website or else contact me via skype (ivmmag). I don’t always have skype running, but if you leave me a message, I will get back to you.

Thanks,
Meryl

Introducing the antivax AVN’s odious new public officer

The left side of the political spectrum was previously thought to be the home of conspiracy theorists. It has become increasingly apparent, for a number of years, that the right-wing has taken the mantle from the stereotypical mung-bean-loving, toxin-free hippies we once acknowledged as being at the heart of anti-vaccinationism.

Indeed, one of the first things I noticed in my short career following antivaxers is that antivaxers will lie down with any mangy, anti-Semitic, homophobic dog; this is concurrent with the rise of assholes like Alex Jones, and the conspiratorial new US President and his violent, baying, white nationalist, conspiracy theorist acolytes.

The Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network is a perfect example of this intermingling of people like Meryl Dorey – previously, sickeningly described by one author as a “kindly aunt” – a Jewish woman in charge of the AVN, in the antivax, hippy heartland of Australia, and the right-wing, MRA-inspired, anti-Semitic, homophobic elements with whom she associates, accepting the ugly misogyny and anti-Semitism of her peers with nary a whisper of dissent. This is anti-vaccinationism now: Donald Trump, Alex Jones, Pauline Hanson and other toxic-laden, wretched, cruel souls are the heroes.

Appropriately, the AVN has recently appointed its latest public officer. Wayne Baird is a right-wing conspiracy theorist from Tintenbar, in the NSW Northern Rivers; residing not far away from Dorey.

Readers would have caught a brief glimpse of Baird, eighteen months ago, when he joked about the assault and interment of me, Jill Hennessy, Jane Hansen, and Mia Freedman, on the Facebook profile of previous AVN public officer, Brett Smith:

On July 27 2017, Baird gave a comparatively sedate interview to the now-banned anti-vaccination zealot, Polly Tommey, in Byron Bay, as a part of the recent AVN/Vaxxed tour of Australia. A more extensive collection of the real Wayne Baird will be included down the page.

At 3:00 in the video excerpt, below, Baird states his recent inclusion on the AVN committee, and accepts Tommey’s order that he join the board of a new anti-vaccination organisation:

Baird: Recently, I became a committee member of the AVN

Tommey: We’re setting up Health Freedom Australia; so, we expect you to be on the board of that as well

Baird: Love to

More concerning are Baird’s statements, at 1:15 in this excerpt, that he is a foster carer of two indigenous girls, both of whom he will be fighting to ensure that they do not receive the HPV immunisation. Baird also claims that he has a medical doctor to help him in his anti-vaccination fight:

Baird: We have seven of our own children and two fostered daughters…you can’t  look after foster children if they’re not vaccinated…we’ll be fighting the HPV and we have a GP who’ll support us, so, when that time comes – one of them is seven tomorrow and the other is eight – they’re indigenous girls – when that time comes we will really make a strong stand.

These legally-obtained extracts show that Baird took over as the public officer of the AVN on June 13 2017. All redactions in the following documents are mine:

It is noted in the extract that Baird assumed the office, on June 13 2017, because the previous public officer, Brett Smith, no longer resided in New South Wales. Smith has now resided in the United States for some time, as a part of his cannabis growing operation which appears to be possibly gearing up for importation of the product into Australia. We can only hope the Therapeutic Goods Administration and the Australian Federal Police will be casting a magnifying glass over this potential importer of therapeutic goods.

In an email to one of my colleagues, on May 13 2017, while Smith was still the public officer of the AVN, Smith boasted:

I’ve just been so busy with my medical cannabis venture. Spent two weeks in a wonderful facility in Israel and am now in Colorado where I’ve just physically planted over a 1000 seedlings. Imagine having a medicinal drug at your disposal with the efficacy and safety profile of cannabis?

This is the extract of Smith’s tenure as the AVN public officer, beginning on February 3 2017:

Regular readers would know Brett Smith as the anti-vaccination thug and abusive Twitter troll who – along with Belgin Colak of Anti-Vaccination Australia – doxxed, vilified and defamed a Byron Bay physiotherapist, his family, and his workplace, in the delusional belief that that physio is me.

Even more startling is that Brett Smith was appointed as the public officer of the AVN even after he had carried out this execrable attack on an innocent man and his family. Smith still repeats his false and defamatory slurs against the innocent physio, to this day.

Smith has a long history of offensive online trolling, including misogyny, false accusations of paedophilia, and threats of violence against other social media users too numerous to mention. And like most antivaxers, Smith also cares not with which excreta he associates.

In 2016, Smith tweeted this offensive homophobic rant from US right-wing anti-vaccination activist, Patrick Tim Bolen. The text from the blog post reads:

In short…

The so-called “skeptics” are a misinformation campaign run by angry male homosexuals masquerading as atheists whose management has a significant interest in pedophilia, its promotion and protection.  They have replaced the old “quackbuster” operation.

Lower level “skeptics,” I believe, are recruited young homosexual men…

It is absolutely fitting, then, that only yesterday, Meryl Dorey wrote a blog post for the very same violent, homophobic, right-wing website, The Bolen Report.

It’s like a perfect circle; the serpent sucking from its own cloaca:

This Wayne Baird collection contains everything you need to know about the man and those with whom he associates. It is still surprising what extent of hateful behaviour anti-vaccination activists will tolerate and condone, as long as their comrade is anti-vaccine.

On August 4 2017, Baird called US law professor Dorit Reiss a “Pharma whore”:

On July 27 2017, Baird hanging out with Vaxxed star, Brian Hooker:

Baird’s Facebook profile contains misogyny, anti-Semitism, the mocking of deaths from preventable diseases, homophobia, transphobia, Charlottesville false flag conspiracies, chemtrails, Port Arthur hoax conspiracies, a fixation on paedophilia, Pizzagate, Scientology, the promotion of the demented convicted criminal Chris Savage and his dangerous products, and an wealth of Breitbart and other equally discredited sources presented as fact. It is amazing. It is frightening. It is frightening to me that this person is a foster carer.

2017

Mocking deaths of aged care residents from influenza:

Charlottesville false flag conspiracy theory:

The serving public officer of the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network advocating his followers to leave false reviews on the Facebook page of surgeon, Mr John Cunningham:

Promotion of Scientology and its anti-psychiatry front, CCHR (this is a constant them for the AVN management, who once sold CCHR DVDs in their online store):

Chemtrails:

Calling the appearance of a bereaved parent with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull a publicity stunt as a part of some broader conspiracy theory:

Antivax quote from the 19th Century which even cites “Consumption”:

Obligatory scary antivax meme:

Lies about mercury in influenza immunisations:

Anti-Semitism:

Mocking chicken pox deaths, which is also a common theme for the AVN. Fit to Parent Network is an antivax Facebook page run by inept Queensland antivaxer, Allona Lahn:

Mockery of measles infection, a disease which has killed many in Europe in the past two years:

In 2016, deaths occurred in Romania (12) and the UK (1). In 2017, deaths were reported from Romania (20), Italy (3), Bulgaria (1), Germany (1), Portugal (1) and France (1).

It is striking that Baird mocks the measles infection of a patient who is hospitalised because of the virus:

The mockery of LGTBI persons, along with his fixation on paedophilia:

Pizzagate, ably assisted by fellow AVNer, Trent Wiseman:

Slut-shaming, whilst pretending to be concerned about women:

2016

One of the most heinous of anti-vaccination lies, the deadly campaign against the provision of Vitamin K:

The promotion of the delusional, convicted criminal, Chris Savage, and his potentially deadly, non-evidence-based treatments:

Anti-fluoride:

Port Arthur hoaxer lies from anti-Semitic, homophobic conspiracy site, The Crazz Files:

A conspiracy theory regarding the tragic death of severely mentally ill antivax activist, Andrew Moulden. Moulden’s family has commented on his death. It is no conspiracy:

Vile, misogynistic claim that journalist Jane Hansen is “hooking for Rupert Murdoch”:

Referring to Victorian Health Minister Jill Hennessy as a “mongrel”:

Meme which states that the fully-aware anti-vaccinationist knows that vaccines are “silent weapons for human farming: killing, sterilising, mind control…child abuse and a crime against humanity”:

2015

Fat-shaming of accomplished Belgian Social Affairs and Health Minister, Maggie De Block:

Anti-abortion post which equates abortion to to The Holocaust, ably supported with anti-Semitism from Belgin Colak:

Anti-Semitism:

“Vaxxed” broadcasts violent threats against California senator and others

Thank goodness Polly Tommey has been banned from Australia after her recent anti-vaccination tour of her propaganda movie, Vaxxed, held in conjunction with a membership drive for the disgraced and disgraceful antivax pressure group, the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network.

By now we come to expect violent rhetoric from anti-vaccination and other conspiracy theorists, often incited by leaders such as Meryl Dorey and Tasha David of the AVN, and Barbara Loe Fisher of the NVIC; but, it doesn’t happen on video as often as it does on regular social media.

On August 28 2017, Polly Tommey broadcast a live video from the Vaxxed bus. Her interviewees were Curt Linderman and his wife Kimberly Strode Linderman. What followed was an hour of deranged, conspiratorial threats and abuse against Senator Dr Richard Pan, Craig Egan, and others, incited and egged on by Tommey and her socmed lackey, Anu Vaidya.

Tommey hails the Lindermans as the Tommeys’ “bestie besties.”

In this short excerpt, Linderman prays for a time – unencumbered by legal sanctions – when he can exact his retribution on those who have provided immunisations, including Senator Pan and other “trolls”:

In this excerpt we see Linderman incited by Tommey into threatening Craig Egan – whom Linderman calls a “punk bitch” – with Vaidya chiming in to escalate the threats:

It is worth watching the following 10-minute compilation I have created so the reader doesn’t have to watch the whole Linderman interview. Highlights include: denials that he is a conspiracy theorist; admissions that he is a conspiracy theorist; the ideal of a spiritual war in which he is fighting evil; Illuminati; New World Order; Georgia Guidestones; depopulation; deliberate sterilisation; executions of public health advocates; vilification of paediatricians; advocacy of violence; Vaidya exclaiming “remember the Bourgeoisie”; and Linderman boasting of his loaded side-arm which is carried on his hip at all times:

You can still donate to Craig Egan’s GoFundMe campaign, here.

Light for Riley praised in federal parliament whilst antivaxers panned for attacking them

In August 2017, in our federal parliament, Shadow Health Minister Catherine King MP praised public health heroes Catherine and Greg Hughes, and Light for Riley, whilst highlighting the abhorrent attacks on the Hughes family by the Australian anti-vaccination movement:

Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network lies about deceased baby, attacks her parents

On Sunday August 13 2017, the Australian government launched a campaign aimed at increasing immunisation coverage whilst combatting anti-vaccination misinformation. Called Get the Facts, the campaign features two families who have both lost babies to whooping cough: the McCaffery and Hughes families. Here is the ad:

Toni McCaffery: 93% of Aussie Kids are fully vaccinated.

But it’s not high enough. We need to do more to protect all our kids.

Our baby Dana died from whooping cough. She was only one month old and too young to be vaccinated.

David McCaffery: We lived in an area that had low immunisation rates.

Greg Hughes: Our baby son Riley died from a vaccine-preventable disease. Nothing can bring him back.

Catherine Hughes: But together we can all help to prevent this tragedy from happening to other families.

Back in March 2017, we showed how the disgraced anti-vaccination pressure group, the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network, lied about the McCaffery family, joining in with other anti-vaccination groups in inciting the abuse and vilification of the McCafferys and the Hughes, whilst inciting death threats against Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, and abuse against his wife and members of  his government.

Back in March, the AVN shared this misleading image from anti-Semitic, anti-vaccination liar, Ian Hastings:

As was demonstrated, in March, the quote-mining from Hastings and the AVN was egregiously dishonest. This is what was really said by the McCafferys, who had been consistent from day one. From our earlier post:

The attack on Toni McCaffery is a lie. From The Sunday Telegraph, on May 26 2013:

TONI McCaffery suspects a daycare centre was the most likely point where her daughter Dana contracted whooping cough in 2009.

Dana was just six days old when Mrs McCaffery took her inside the centre while dropping off her four-year-old daughter Aisling.

Just over three weeks later, Dana was dead, her tiny body ravaged by whooping cough.

After Dana died, Mrs McCaffery set up a spreadsheet to track her movements and pinpoint where her baby had been exposed to the disease, narrowing the potential places down to the shopping centre, the school and the childcare centre.

Then six cases of whooping cough were confirmed at Aisling’s childcare centre.

Indeed, the McCafferys themselves have been consistent regarding the source of Dana’s infection from the beginning.

NSW Health pamphlet featuring Dana’s story was released in 2011. The text is from NSW Health, but, this shows the McCafferys’ consistency:

On the fifth day, the whooping cough toxins caused her organs to shut down and Dana had a cardiac arrest. She was only 32 days old when she died.

Nobody knows where Dana was infected with whooping cough. It may have been at her sibling’s school or preschool. A loving relative or friend, or a complete stranger may have unknowingly passed the infection on.

Of note, as early as 2010, Toni McCaffery is on the record regarding the likely source of Dana’s whooping cough, describing events in the week following Dana’s funeral, in 2009:

…a week later we found out that there were 6 positive notifications at my older daughter’s childcare centre, where I had taken Dana on one day, and numerous notifications at my son’s school. He started kindergarten. That’s right. On one day, I took Dana out because I need to drop my son to school and daughter to preschool and there was whooping cough everywhere– and I live with that every day. If I had known Whooping Cough was around, I would not have stepped foot inside these places with Dana. I am gutted. We also held a review with NSW Health – and there were no cases of whooping cough in the maternity ward of Lismore Base Hospital. We have never stated that Dana was infected by an unvaccinated child. That is a complete lie and Mrs Dorey should retract it.

This is nothing new. The AVN and Meryl Dorey have been lying about and inciting abuse against the McCafferys for years. It also set the groundwork for the abuse and vilification of the Hughes family, from 2015 onward.

Back in 2010, Toni McCaffery was forced to make a statement correcting lies made about Dana and the McCafferys, by Meryl Dorey and her followers (full statement included in appendix):

I am so distressed I have to do this. But Mrs Dorey from the AVN has just published another terrible article about us…

Enough is enough. We just simply ask the AVN and Mrs Dorey to stop spreading false information about our daughter. She caught whooping cough. She died a torturous death. Leave her in peace and stop misleading the public.

Whooping cough is dangerous; and it is deadly for 1 in 200 babies…

Mrs Dorey and the AVN…please leave my family alone.

In 2012, David McCaffery was forced to make another public plea for Meryl Dorey and her antivax network to stop lying about Dana:

Stop lying about us and our family. We have had enough of your absolute callousness and disregard for others that don’t promote your misleading ideology…

Leave us alone, again!

And just two months ago, Catherine Hughes was forced to issue a statement in response to anti-vaccination lies about her deceased baby, and her family.

The anti-vaccination cult will never change.

Yesterday, August 14 2017, the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network lied about Dana McCaffery and attacked her family, several times:

Here is how your foregone childcare rebates are being spent – propaganda fronted by well-known mandatory vaccinationists. I wonder if the Health Minister knows that the McCafferys were selective vaccinators in that Dana was not vaccinated against Hepatitis B at birth, which was recommended and funded under the National Immunisation Program in 2009. In other words, “do as I say, but not as I do”. Outrageous. VC

This fact is not even up for debate: Dana McCaffery had the birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine.

Toni McCaffery has never stated that Dana did not receive the birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine.

The AVN continued its lies, then, used its lies so as to provoke its members into contacting politicians, with these lies:

The AVN’s members stated that the deaths of Dana, Riley and others are “propaganda”:

Olivier Vles (Bernie Smith) argued that the McCafferys’ story is a government psy-op:

The AVN continued its lies about Dana and the McCafferys:

The chances are – according to Dana’s doctor – she contracted whooping cough while in hospital (because her symptoms started so early). So all this crap about living on the North Coast and being exposed to whooping cough because so many in that community don’t vaccination is just that – crap! The most likely scenario is that their daughter was exposed to whooping cough from a fully-vaccinated person in hospital and, since we know that the vaccinated are many times more likely to be asymptomatic carriers of pertussis or parapertussis, all of this is just more superstitious pseudo-science being pushed by the ignorant to influence the gullible. We see through it though.

BR

More AVN members accused the McCafferys of being part of a corrupt, big pharma cover-up, or “fear propaganda”:

How much abuse and vilification do bereaved families have to endure before those who orchestrate such vitriol are held criminally responsible?

Why isn’t  Meryl Dorey in prison?

Toni McCaffery Response to AVN article A grieving family and baseless accusations

[Published on Facebook, July 31 2010]

I am so distressed I have to do this. But Mrs Dorey from the AVN has just published another terrible article about us at http://nocompulsoryvaccination.com/2010/07/30/a-grieving-family-and-baseless-accusations/

It was a very difficult decision to make a formal complaint to the HCCC. It took us until December 2009 to decide, because we knew it would put us back in the public spotlight. We did not make our complaint public, for fear of further harassment, which has continued unabated. This article demonstrates there is no protection for complainants in this whole process

The subject of our complaint was that many articles published by Meryl Dorey, like this one, contain false information about Dana. This article demonstrates why we made our complaint – and yes, this is distressing and a form of harassment as it is full of false information about our daughter.

In response:

#1

We have never blamed any person for Dana’s death. See our letter – we are all innocent victims in this. The ‘victim of ignorance’ is our quote that appeared in the Northern Star. It refers to the fact that despite record levels of Pertussis notifications, no-one knew that this area was in the grip of an epidemic, we did not receive one warning, a warning sticker on Dana’s Blue Book and adults did not know they needed a booster. We have been nothing but respectful throughout this. We do not know where Dana caught whooping cough from – all we know is that it was everywhere we had been.

#2

“Dana had presented to doctors several times before being diagnosed. Her mother said that her only symptoms were a runny nose and possible breathing problems.” – Meryl Dorey

Yes, we stated this. This is how whooping cough starts as per NSW Health Fact Sheet

#3

“She was admitted to hospital with a simple runny nose and only became seriously ill after her admission”. – MD

No. This is dangerously misleading and I plead with any parent, do not delay in taking your child to hospital – 10 minutes later and I would have been resuscitating my daughter on the side of the road. After a positive diagnosis of Pertussis, we went straight to hospital. We have stated in media that she started having little coughs. On the way to hospital she ‘bubbled mucous’ in the car. I was in the back seat. We were not worried at this stage. Once we walked into the ward, 10 minutes within arriving, Dana had her first coughing paroxysm in my arms. She stopped breathing, went blue and needed oxygen. Oxygen was her first form of treatment. She then coughed like that and kept having apnoea attacks up to 10 times every hour throughout the night. It was pure hell.

#4

“She was diagnosed with whooping cough within a day or two of when she was admitted to hospital when a whooping cough diagnosis generally takes 10-14 days to produce a positive result.” – MD

Dana had the PCR test. My doctor called with the positive diagnosis and we drove straight to hospital. Thank goodness this test is so quick and reliable as it means quick treatment, and means people can be treated earlier with antibiotics so they don’t infect others. This statement tears my heart out and is so offensive. My daughter did not survive another 10 days!

Fact: Dana had Pertussis – end of story and no-one should be stating otherwise. She had blood tests every half hour in hospital for goodness sake, so yes we have toxicology results to prove she had Whooping Cough. It satisfied the Coroner; that should be enough for anyone.

#5

“The media and her family reported that her treatments had included blood transfusions;” – MD

Yes. As per latest medical articles, when Pertussis turns fatal, doctors cannot ventilate a child’s lungs because they become like concrete, and the blood becomes so thick. This means blood cannot be pumped to vital organs. The blood transfusions are a last resort to remove the toxin and give them a chance. The other option is a heart/lung bypass machine – with very low chances of success. I was alone, sat down with all the specialists and given two options that I had to make then and there. Dave was driving up and I had not told him of how serious it was as I did not want him to have a car crash. There I was being told my daughter would die and given two choices, that specialists had consulted experts all around the world. I chose the blood transfusion, and you know what, she nearly made it. If you mean to hurt me by implying that I made a wrong choice, you have been successful.

#6

“her heart was twice its normal size” – MD

We have never stated this and it is completely false. We stated on Sunday Night, aired on 26 April 2009, that Dana’s body was swollen. This is called oedema, a sign of multi-organ failure. Dana suffered myocardial dysfunction that means her heart muscle died and she had cardiac arrest due to the strain of the Pertussis. If Dana had made it, and God I wish she had, we were facing future transplants, dialysis and brain damage.

#7

“She had a systemic infection” – MD

She had Pertussis – an infectious disease. What does systemic infection mean? We have evidence of Yahoo forums where Mrs Dorey has made a statement that Dana died of septicaemia. This is completely false and I do not know where Mrs Dorey got this information from. But, many babies that do get Pertussis and develop pneumonia are at risk of septicaemia. Anyone that develops pneumonia is. Doctors take blood cultures every half hour to monitor oxygen and C02 levels. That is why babies are ventilated, because they cannot breathe on their own. If C02 levels are too high, people can suffer toxic shock and die. However, Dana did not have septicaemia.

#8

“none of which are normal with whooping cough” – MD

Actually – these are all complications of whooping cough. As are broken ribs, pneumonia and brain damage. Parents need to know these are risks of the disease. 60% of young babies that catch whooping cough need to be hospitalised. 1 in 200 babies can die. These are facts.

We had not made any other statements about Dana’s reported symptoms or treatments – we did not appear on Sunday Night until 6 weeks afterwards. No-one has the right to ask these questions. Come to us and ask permission. This beggars belief, particularly when your husband saw the grief of our family that same day. The public would not have known about Dana’s death only that we allowed it to be confirmed anonymously in a NSW Health media release.

#10

“The NCAHS told me that Dana’s death was determined by using a ‘quick test’. At that time, I was unfamiliar with this type of test but subsequent research has shown me that this is a test which gives false positives up to 100% of the time.” – MD

NCAHS said they confirmed the diagnosis was by laboratory diagnosis. Dana had both PCR and blood culture. Again, there is no debate here. Dana had Pertussis.

But that will never happen.”

#11

“I have been accused of harassing this grieving family by making this call. It is my assertion however that the official from the NCAHS has not only committed a serious breach of confidentiality by informing a third party that I had contacted him; he in fact, has harassed the McCafferys by calling a grieving family to tell them that I had asked for confirmation of Dana’s diagnosis. What possible reason could he have had for taking this action?” – MD

This is false. We met with Paul Corben, Dr Kerry Chant and Chris Crawford on 8 May 2009. We showed them the letters and emails we had received, including the AVN brochure. We expressed our concern at the harassment and fears that people were trying to spin the facts on Dana’s death. We asked a direct question of Mr Corben, and he confirmed that Mrs Dorey had contacted him on 12 March 2009.

He then provided a written email to us on 19 May 2009. I had googled Dana’s name one night, and found the discussion on Yahoo where Mrs Dorey and AVN members were discussing Dana’s death. I emailed him in disbelief and he confirmed the phone call in response.

#12

“I have never phoned them, written them a letter by post, email or contacted them in any other way except for the once which I will describe below.” – MD

This is correct. However, your members and participants have sent mail to our home and emails. We received this email from a regular participant on your Facebook and Yahoo Forums on 19 April 2009:

“Dear Dana’s family, I am so sorry to read of your daughter’s passing. It must be tragic to lose a daughter and I wish you all sympathy and trust that God delivers unto you. We believe that God chose Dana for a reason, perhaps she had passed a test and has been elevated awaiting you. God made us all equal and gave us amazing unique bodies to live in.

We find it amazing that some people firmly believe that God was not perfect. Apparently, according to these people, God forgot to add the heavy toxic metals, pig cells, chicken cells etc that are found in vaccines. I choose this subject because your whole website seems to be pointing the finger at vaccines, or lack thereof for your daughter’s tragic death. How can you be so sure ? Do you have so much faith in the financially pressured drug companies to outstrip God that you do not doubt them at all ? Have you done any research into vaccines and seen the reason why so many people will not tolerate injecting their families with toxic muck. Do you have justifiable logic to discredit all their fears ?

I am sorry, but I believe Dana passed away because of different reasons than you claim. All the same, please accept my sympathy for your tragic loss.”

However, the basis of our complaint is the false information you yourself have published about Dana: An initial e-newsletter that one of your members emailed to my sister-in-law soon after Dana’s death; The Fear Factor article; Numerous online discussions on your Yahoo forum where you have made false statements about her treatment and cause of death and referring to Dana as the ‘baby that supposedly died of Pertussis’ – including at seminars confirmed by attendees.

We have also seen terrible letters sent to Internet forums and to media outlets from your members and participants of your Facebook group. These are a sample:

“Dana did not die from Whooping Cough but of complications from. Why weren’t all the details of her death told in the story, like what treatment was she given, was her temperature suppressed so that her immune [sic] could not function as nature intended etc”

“Why don’t you look at the big picture and look at more reasons why this child died. One question you could ask is, what poisons had already been injected into Dana’s little body, which possibly compromised her immune system…What did the toxicology report say, was there one performed?”

“Toni, you seem quite indignant that anyone is daring to question your beliefs in the religion of vaccinology. I would have thought that it is incumbent on you or anyone else who is seeking a very costly heightened “awareness campaign” about the dangers of pertussis to provide evidence of vaccination efficacy and safety. In other words put up or shut up! It is irrelevant to me whether or not Dana died from pertussis or something else, it’s simply not relevant to the debate surrounding vaccine safety and efficacy, except to say that, the Hepatitis B vaccine and other vaccines are well known to cause immune suppression, making recipients of the vaccine more susceptible to circulating infectious disease. Given you are so ardently in favour of the governments vaccine schedule I am assuming that Dana was administered the Hep B vax at birth, per the current schedule. To have any credibility you need to state publicly whether or not Dana received the Hep b vaccine, because if she did, it muddies the waters somewhat, in terms of causation of death. Was an autopsy conducted, was it rigorous, these are the questions that you and your husband need to answer publicly.”

Mrs Dorey also published a dreadful article in The Inside Edition, and this latest one. They all contain false information about Dana, and us, and we ask you to stop. We have seen much worse statements from the beginning of this year, with terrible statements made about us on your Facebook site that Mrs Dorey allowed to remain up there. Statements such as that I “speak with a forked tongue”, and from your own administrators that we are not “honouring [our] daughter’s death with the truth”, and are “milking her death”.

#13

“The McCafferys claimed that I had provided incorrect information to the ABC, but the final outcome of the ABC’s investigation of this issue stated that the journalist had actually made a mistake when she was speaking – the error was not mine.” – MD

No. I have the recording. The journalist asked a question of our paediatrician citing statistics of vaccination and Pertussis. Our paediatrician asked the journalist where she got the data from, and she said the AVN.

The letter from the ABC Audience and Consumer Affairs says:

“We have investigated the statistics used by Ms Quigley (the presenter) in her question and determined that their presentation was in breach of the ABC’s editorial requirements for accuracy and context in factual content. The statistics compared a vaccination rate from 2001 for children aged 0 to 6, with a vaccination rate from 2008 for children born during a particular three month window who had been vaccinated by the age of two. The two statistics are drawn from different data sets and relate to different groups of children. Accordingly, comparing the two statistics was inappropriate. Furthermore, the first vaccination rate statistics was for the year 2001 but was presented as a vaccination rate for 1991…In this case, whilst each individual statistic was in and of itself accurate and drawn from a verifiable Government source, the comparative manner in which they were presented was misleading.”

This was not the journalist’s mistake. She read out statistics provided by the AVN.

“Ken and I were both aware that a Lennox Head child had died from whooping cough – it was in all the media – but this was the first time that either of us knew who that child was.” “Neither Ken nor I were aware that Dana was the child involved; her name was not published in the papers until one or two days after Ken’s visit and her funeral was even later then that.” – MD

Ken Dorey visited my mother-in-law Carmel on the early afternoon of 12 March 2009. Dana’s funeral was on 13 March 2009, also published in the funeral notices of the paper. As we have stated, Ken and Carmel do know each other through the environment group. While Ken claims to not have known about Dana, Meryl did. She was interviewed for the Daily Telegraph the day before (11 March) about the death, then Dana was on the front page of the Northern Star newspaper on that morning of 12 March 2009, and Meryl admits she saw this article and then rang Paul Corben from NCAHS that morning. This all occurred before Ken visited Carmel. Whatever reasons for Ken being there, he saw a grandmother in grief. He probably was shocked and provided his condolences. However, when most people send cards and food, what did Meryl do? Start to spread lies about our daughter. It beggars belief and continues distress us.

#15

“At the end of the conversation, Ken remembers Carmel saying to him that the doctors told Toni and David that it was most likely that Dana had caught whooping cough from an unvaccinated child in the hospital.” – MD

This is so disgusting. A private conversation from a grieving grandmother and Mrs Dorey twists it and uses this in e-newsletters and The Fear Factor. What a betrayal of trust. Carmel would never have used those words. Dana could have caught it in the hospital, but a week later we found out that there were 6 positive notifications at my older daughter’s childcare centre, where I had taken Dana on one day, and numerous notifications at my son’s school.

Enough is enough. We just simply ask the AVN and Mrs Dorey to stop spreading false information about our daughter. She caught whooping cough. She died a torturous death. Leave her in peace and stop misleading the public.

Whooping cough is dangerous; and it is deadly for 1 in 200 babies.

Now after having to deal with these lies, I have to take my children to a birthday party and try to be normal.

Mrs Dorey and the AVN…please leave my family alone.
