The Chiropractic Board of Australia has had enough:
The Chiropractic Board of Australia cracks down to protect the public.
The Chiropractic Board of Australia is cracking down on chiropractors who step outside their primary role as healthcare practitioners and provide treatment that puts the public at risk.
To protect public safety, the Board has:
– ordered practitioners to remove all anti-vaccination material from their websites and clinics
– removed several courses from the list of approved CPD programs, and
– introduced random audits of practitioner compliance with the Board’s registration standards. [Media Release August 8 2013]
Kathy Knight is a businesswoman who manipulates customers at a business called Universal Chiropractic, in Canberra. Knight is a member of the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia, which is to be expected. She is also a member of the thoroughly discredited and universally despised anti-vaccination fundamentalist lobby group, the Australian Vaccination Network. I guess there might just be something in the claim that chiropractic helps one sleep at night; I don’t know how some people achieve it.
Knight links directly to the horrid AVN, directly from her website (as well as the anti-vaccine Cyndi O’Meara; but, that’s for another day):
Remember that time Meryl Dorey and Greg Beattie held that AVN lie-fest in Canberra? That’s right, neither do we. That failure was hidden away in the attic like your crazy uncle with his pants on his head. Still, kudos to the intelligent people of our Nation’s Capital for refusing to turn up and support fundamentalists who want to see a return to higher infant mortality rates:
You know the worst thing, apart from a child-hating, anti-vaccination death-cult claiming to want to care about your children? These people get to call themselves “Dr”, because of a deal done to get them under a regulatory umbrella. Who does deals with these sorts of people?
This needs to be revisited, and it needs to be done now.
She’s all yours, CBA.
